1 held with ganja from Agartala Railway Station


In yet another significant development to the anti-drug drive, the Agartala GR Police jointly with the RPF on Sunday night detained one person with 8 kilograms of dry cannabis from his hand bag from Agartala Railway station. The detained was identified as Imam Uddin (58) resident of Bihar.

Tapas Das, officer in charge of the Government Railway Police in Agartala said we have detained one person and found 8 kilograms of dry cannabis from his hand bag packed in eight small packets. After the preliminary investigation, the detained person confessed that he was taking this dry cannabis to Uttar Pradesh for smuggling purpose. Moreover, the estimated value of the confiscated marijuana (ganja) in the illicit market amounts to approximately Rs 1.60 lakh, the police officer added.

A case under NDPS act has been registered against the detained person.
