Tripura celebrates Rashtriya Ekta Diwas

Tripura along with the rest of the nation on Tuesday celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel through series of programmes.

The state agriculture and power minister Ratan Lal Nath on Tuesday administered the oath of unity to the gathering at state-level function held at Agartala Swami Vivekananda Ground on Tuesday morning. The minister remembered the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel towards developing India and urged to work united and fulfils the dream of Sardar Patel. Who also played a crucial role in safeguarding the country’s unity and integrity.

“After the independence of the country, Sardar Patel played an important role in uniting many small states of the country with the Union of India,” he said, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has followed the ideology of Sardar Patel to call for Ek Bharat Srestha Bharat.

He said, “The union government started observing this day as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas from 2014 to highlight his ideology, thoughts and philosophy of Sardar Patel to the present generation.”

The state sports and youth affairs minister Tinku Roy, Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul, Minister Santana Chakma and others were present in the function.

The minister Ratan Lal Nath also flagged off ‘Run for Unity’ from the Swami Vivekananda ground, which later moved across the capital town of Agartala. Personnel of TSR, CRPF, Assam Rifles, NSS, Civil Defence, Scouts and Guides, sportspersons, students of various schools and colleges participated in the Unity Run.
