16 injured in road accident


Sixteen people were injured, two critically, in a tragic road accident on Thursday. The accident took place in Hatai Kotor, formerly known as Baramura Hills, under Teliamura Sub-division of Tripura’s Khowai district.

According to the Police, the incident occurred when a four-wheeler carrying passengers lost control due to over speeding in the hilly terrain and collided with a bus. As a result sixteen people were injured including two critically injured. There are no reported casualties.

The passerby people rushed to the spot and informed the fire service and the police. After getting the information fire service personnel and police personnel rushed to the spot and took the injured to Teliamura Sub-divisional Hospital. The doctors on duty referred Chinu Bala Das (35) and Biki Das (4) to GB Pant Hospital in Agartala due to the severity of their condition and the remaining injured people were discharged from the hospital after receiving preliminary treatment.

Leader of the Opposition and MLA of Tipra Motha Animesh Debbarma who was on his way to Khowai from Khumulwng was passing by the accident spot. Taking immediate action, he stopped and provided assistance to the injured individuals, ensuring their prompt transfer to the hospital.

A four-wheeler carrying passengers and a bus collided in the Baramura Hill area. We have sent the injured individuals to the hospital for treatment. Over 16 persons were injured and our priority is to support them, Animesh Debbarma stated.
