4 held with 47 kgs of ganja from Jirania Railway Station

In yet another significant development to the anti-drug drive, the GR Police jointly with the RPF and BSF on Wednesday detained four people including three women with 47 kilograms of dry cannabis from their bags from Jirania Railway station.
The officer in-charge of the GRP station at Agartala Tapas Das informed they received a tip off, on the basis of the tip off police of GRP and Railway Protection Force and BSF laid a trap and arrested four people with 47 kilograms of dry cannabis from their bags. The arrested persons have been identified as Sabita Paul, Rinku Nama and Mamata shil all of them residents of Tripura. While Mithun Chakraborty an resident of Silchar of Assam state.
Moreover, the estimated value of the confiscated marijuana (ganja) in the illicit market amounts to approximately Rs 3.5 lakh.
After the preliminary investigation, the arrested people said that the seized marijuana (ganja) was intended for smuggling purpose, the cop said.
