CM Dr. Manik Saha stresses on more awareness to control pollution


Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday chaired a review meeting of the Tripura State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) here at the secretariat and stressed on the need for more vigilance on wastes management to control environmental pollution.

Laying emphasis on generating more awareness, the Chief Minister urged for involvement of the Eco Clubs of various schools and colleges. He said that there is a need for regular monitoring of waste management including prevention of noise, air, and water pollution.

Concerned of rising noise pollution across the state, Dr Saha said that in order to prevent noise pollution, various temples, mosques and other religious institutions should be consistently requested to control the sound of microphones. He advised to tighten the vigilance system with the help of district and security administration to prevent loud mic playing in hospitals, schools, colleges and other public places.

Dr Saha also said that the water of swimming pools in different parts of the state should be tested regularly. Laboratory of Community Medicine, Tripura Government Medical College can be used for water testing if required, he said, adding that proper care must be taken to prevent bacterial or fungal infections from pool water.
