Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar says growth of country would remain incomplete without development of North East


Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said that growth of the country would remain incomplete without the development of the North East. Addressing 21st convocation of the Dibrugarh University in Assam, Mr. Dhankhar said that the eight states of the North East are truly the Asthalakshmi of the county and with their development is vital for the country.

Remembering the legends of Assam including great Ahom general Lachit Barphukan and Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Mr. Dhankhar appreciated the role of the Dibrugarh University in preserving language. The Vice President also appreciated the flora and fauna and scenic beauty of Dibrugarh. He emphasised that students should also try unconventional things in life to get success as progress comes for innovation.

The Vice President said that convocation is the milestone for the life of students, teachers and parents and added students must contribute for the betterment of a society. He said that with the support of the government, students now could explore ideas into action now. Mr. Dhankhar appreciated the works of the Assam government particularly in the fields of health and education.

Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union minister Rameshwar Teli among others attended the convocation ceremony.
