Guwahati to Host India-New Zealand T20I in January 2026 as Part of White-Ball Series

Guwahati is set to host a high-profile T20 International between India and New Zealand in January 2026, as part of an eight-match white-ball series announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The two teams will face off in three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and five T20 Internationals (T20Is), marking their first meeting since India’s historic victory over New Zealand in the Champions Trophy final in March 2025.

The upcoming tour will begin with a three-match ODI series, starting on January 11 at the newly constructed Kotambi Stadium in Baroda (Vadodara). The second ODI will be held in Rajkot on January 14, followed by the series finale in Indore on January 18.

Following the ODIs, the focus will shift to the shortest format of the game. The five-match T20I series will kick off on January 21 in Nagpur, with subsequent matches scheduled in Raipur (January 23), Guwahati (January 25), Visakhapatnam (January 28), and the final match in Thiruvananthapuram (January 31).

Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium has become a popular venue for white-ball cricket in recent years and is expected to draw a strong crowd for the highly anticipated clash.

Besides the host cities already confirmed, other venues involved in the tour include Mohali, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Rajkot, showcasing a mix of established and emerging cricket centers across the country.

The tour is seen as a crucial part of both teams’ preparation ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup. It also promises to reignite the growing rivalry between India and New Zealand, following their closely contested encounters in recent ICC tournaments.
