Justice Ashutosh Kumar Appointed Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court

Justice Ashutosh Kumar has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court. His elevation is part of a series of judicial appointments announced by the Central Government on July 11, involving the appointment and transfer of several High Court judges across the country.

Prior to this appointment, Justice Kumar was serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court. His new role in Gauhati follows the transfer and elevation of several senior judges, aimed at strengthening judicial leadership across various High Courts.

The appointments were approved by President Droupadi Murmu and officially announced through a Press Communiqué issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice.

In the same order, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, who was previously serving as Acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the same court. Additionally, the Chief Justices of four other High Courts have been transferred as part of this reshuffle.
