Union Budget 2025-26 prioritizes women development says Mimi Majumder


The Tripura Pradesh Mahila Morcha president and former MLA Mimi Majumder on Sunday lauded the Union Budget 2025-26 which was tabled on February by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, stating that the Prime Minister has categorised the budget into four parts, poor, youth, farmers and women and the budget lays the foundation for achieving the steps needed to fulfil the vision of "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India).

Addressing in the Mahila Shakti Samabash organized by 48 Karamcherra Mondal on Sunday Tripura Pradesh Mahila Morcha president and former MLA Mimi Majumder said Union Budget 2025-26 has significantly prioritised women and child development, with a 37.25% increase in funding compared to the previous year. The allocation for women’s welfare has risen to Rs. 4.49 lakh crore, highlighting the government’s strengthened financial commitment to gender-focused initiatives. The Gender Budget, which directs resources toward programs benefiting women and girls, now constitutes 8.86% of the total budget, up from 6.8% in the 2024-25 fiscal year, reflecting a stronger emphasis on women’s empowerment and child development. The increase in funds will be directed toward several critical areas, particularly maternal and child nutrition and women’s entrepreneurship. "Under the vision of PM Modi, the finance minister tabled the Union Budget 2025 in February. This budget is the foundation stone for achieving the steps taken to attain the rest of Viksit Bharat. PM Modi has categorised this budget into four parts: Poor, youth, farmers and women. Under the leadership of PM in the last 10 and half years, the economy has developed and with this budget, it will grow further, she added.

Mimi Majumder urged every women of the state to celebrate the International Women's Day on March 8th. "March 8 is International women's day, and I feel that every day in India should be celebrated as women's day," She said.

 The government led by PM Modi is deeply committed to women empowerment in all walks of life. "Today, women have become an integral part of India's security and defence architecture. The targeted outcome of such an empowerment is to create an atmosphere where women feel free, safe and secure to pursue any vocation, profession or take a road less taken," She added.
