Congress-CPI(M) seat sharing strategy goes wrong as CPI(M) former MP files nomination against Sudip

Dumping the seat-sharing strategy of the Congress and the CPI(M) party in Tripura, the opposition CPI(M) fielded party’s former MP Shankar Prasad Dutta against congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman and the ruling BJP party for 6-Agartala assembly constituency.

Former MP Shankar Prasad Dutta on Monday filed his nomination paper and said, “I have submitted my nomination as people wanted it to happen, Things will happen in Tripura what and how people want it to happen.”

Refusing to reply to the media’s question over breaking down the Congress-CPI(M) seat sharing tactics, Dutta said, “This is just because people of this state want to oust the BJP from Tripura and so we are working to defeat BJP from power.”

According to the candidate lists released by the CPI(M) party, the 6-Agartala assembly constituency was left from the Congress party, which perhaps fielded MLA Sudip Roy Barman to contest against the BJP.

Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman also submitted his nomination paper from his assembly constituency on Monday.

On the other hand, the BJP candidate Papia Dutta, who is contesting against MLA Sudip Roy Barman from 6-Agartala assembly constituency, submitted her nomination paper here on Monday.

However, the sudden filing of nomination by the CPI(M)’s unlisted candidate Shankar Prasad Dutta triggered speculation over the existence of the party’s seat sharing strategy with the Congress party.
