Multi-Agency Counter-Terrorism Exercise Conducted at Agartala Secretariat

A large-scale multi-agency counter-terrorism exercise was successfully carried out at the Agartala Secretariat on Friday evening, aimed at strengthening preparedness and enhancing coordination among various security forces.

The high-intensity drill witnessed the active participation of the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Tripura Police, Tripura State Rifles (TSR), and specialized units including the Tripura Police Dog Squad and Bomb Squad. The exercise simulated a complex terrorist threat scenario, testing the operational readiness and interoperability of the participating agencies.

During the exercise, security teams swiftly cordoned off the Secretariat complex, executed detailed room-clearing operations, and neutralized a simulated threat. One of the key highlights was the successful mock rescue of hostages trapped inside the Secretariat building. The Dog Squad and Bomb Squad were instrumental in conducting comprehensive sweeps of the premises to detect and neutralize any potential explosive devices, ensuring the area was safe.

Officials said the drill not only demonstrated the quick response capabilities of the security forces but also reinforced the importance of inter-agency coordination in tackling high-risk situations. The simulated operation served as a valuable platform for evaluating existing protocols, identifying potential gaps, and enhancing real-time decision-making under pressure.

The successful conduct of the exercise underscores the Tripura government’s commitment to protecting critical infrastructure and maintaining public safety. It also reflects the proactive stance of security agencies in staying prepared to handle any threat to peace and order in the region.
