In a significant operation in a private run hotel in North Tripura district, 2 arm dealers were detained by the police along with a pistol ahead of the Republic Day celebration.

Police recovered a factory made pistol and ammunition from their possession, raising concern over potential security threats.

North Tripura Superintendent of police Avinash Rai confirmed the arrest and identified the accused as Neeraj Kumar and Indal Mukhiya, both hailing from Bihar Samastipur. He said that the duo had reached Dharmanagar by train and was staying in a hotel.

Acting on a specific information, a team led by Dharmanagar SDPO conducted a raid at the early morning on Saturday, which led to the recovery of the pistol and arrest of the suspects. A case has been registered against the duo under the Arms Act under the Dharmanagar police station and further interrogation is underway to determine their motives and weather they have any larger criminal networks.
