CPI(M) accuses BJP of attack on visiting Left-Congress delegation panel in Bishalgarh


The opposition CPI(M) party on Friday alleged of attack on the visiting MPs of the Left-Congress panel here in the state and demanded action against the culprits involved with the incident.

A delegation of Left-Congress party panel comprising of the CPI(M) MP Elamaram Kareem, Congress MP Abdul Khalek and others began their fact-finding process to collect the ground report of the post-poll violence in Tripura. The delegation, which includes former Chief Minister of the then Left front government in Tripura – Manik Sarkar is expected to raise the issues of the ground report of the violence in the second half of the Budget session of Parliament, which convenes from March 13.

The CPI(M) party in Tripura alleged that at a time when the delegation was on a visit of the violence affected sites at Bishalgarh Nehalchandranagar on Friday evening, some BJP goons vandalised the vehicles of the MPs by chanting ‘Joy Sree Ram’.

 

Condemning the incident, the CPI(M) in its press communique stated, “This incident proves that how the law and order situation and public safety were deteriorated under the rule of BJP in Tripura, where even the MPs are not safe.”

“The CPI(M) State Secretariat strongly condemns this barbaric attack by the ruling party miscreants on the MP party at Nehalchandranagar in Bishalgarh. The state secretaries are demanding the state government to immediately arrest the culprits involved in this incident and punish them according to law,” it added. 

CPI MP Binoy Viswam tweeted, “Our united fact-finding mission to Tripura is the natural response to the atrocities unleashed by BJP. Burning houses and killing of cows mark their victory parade. Democratic values are anathema for BJP. If secular, democratic, left forces stand united, BJP can be defeated.”
