PM Modi to embark on 2-day visit to Assam


Prime Minister Narendra  Modi to embark on 2-day visit to Assam tomorrow to inaugurate, dedicate and lay foundation stones of several projects worth Rs. 18 thousand crores on Saturday.

The Prime Minister will arrive at Tezpur Airport in Sonitpur district tomorrow at 4 pm and will directly go to the UNESCO World Heritage site Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in the evening. Mr. Modi will stay the night at the Assam Police Guest House at Kohora Range of the National Park. Next day (Saturday) early morning, the Prime Minister will undertake a safari inside the park and then leave for Arunachal Pradesh to attend a series of programmes.

After attending programmes at Arunachal Pradesh, the Prime Minister will visit Jorhat at around 1.30 pm where he will inaugurate a 84 feet height statue of legendary Ahom warrior Lachit Borphukan at Hollonga Pathar. The structure will be known as 'Statue of Valour'.

Mr. Modi will address a public meeting at Meleng Meteli Pothar in Jorhat and will virtually inaugurate, dedicate and lay foundation stones of several projects worth Rs. 18 thousand crores. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Tinsukia Medical College and Hospital, a Child Care Unit at B. Baruah Cancer Institute, Guwahati; Barauni to Guwahati oil and gas pipe line and  two crude oil pumping stations of Oil India Limited.

The Prime Minister will virtually lay foundation stone of Sivasagar Medical College and Hospital; Guwahati Refinery and Digboi Refinery expansion projects and IOCL’s Bethkuchi Terminal in Guwahati from the Meleng Meteli Pothar in Jorhat.

Besides, Mr. Modi will dedicate to the nation two railway projects of doubling of rail lines from Dhupdhara to Chaygaon and New Bongaigaon to Sarbhog.

In addition, Mr. Modi will also virtually perform the 'Griha Pravesh' (house-warming) ceremony for over 5.5 lakh homes constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
