Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar’s life is an indelible inspiration for women empowerment, social justice and nation building. She belonged to a simple family, but through her ideal leadership, religious renaissance and social reforms, she created a special place in India history.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha was speaking in a programme on Saturday organized on the occasion of 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar at Agartala Town hall. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha also paid tribute to the portrait of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar. Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Rajib Bhattacharjee and others were also present.
The ‘Philosopher Queen of Lokmata’ Ahilyabai Holkar was a warrior par excellence, a leader who led her Army to several battles through sheer grit and determination and broke social and cultural dogmas at will. Ahilyabai was a lokmata, she was a karmyogini and rajyogini. Always leading from the front, she proved it beyond doubt that she was a great manager, a compassionate ruler who lead the movement for change in the society and opened new vistas for women’s empowerment. She remains as eternal inspiration, said Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
Celebrating her as an enduring symbol of Nari Shakti, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha highlighted her dharma-aligned, people-centric administration and trail-blazing work in social justice and women’s empowerment. She promoted the sari industry in Mahishmati to foster women’s self-reliance, encouraged widow remarriage, and moved to end child marriage measures that remain exemplary today. Let us take inspiration from Lokmata Ahilyabai’s life and commit ourselves wholeheartedly to restoring India’s timeless splendour and the vitality of Sanatan culture, he added.
