Chief Secretary launches Mission violence free election 2024


The Tripura Chief Secretary J K Sinha on Monday launched the ‘Mission Violence Free Elections 2024’ here at Agartala and advised all stakeholders to ensure peaceful voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha election by taking a cue from the 2023 assembly election.

The programme was held at Gram Swaraj Bhavan in Arundhatinagar on Monday. Director General of State Police Amitabh Ranjan, Chief Election Officer Puneet Agarwal, State Police Nodal Officer G S Rao, Home Secretary Dr PK Chakraborty, IG BSF Piyush Patel and IG CAPF D L Gola among others were present in the programme.

Addressing the launching programme the Chief Secretary J K Sinha said that the Election Commission of India recently in a meeting praised Tripura for conducting the 2023 Tripura Assembly elections in a completely violence-free manner.

He advised all the officials present to conduct the elections in a fair, beautiful and festive mood by maintaining close relations with the political parties and candidates and expeditiously redress various grievances regarding their electoral process.

The chief secretary expressed hope that the upcoming Lok Sabha elections will also be violence-free, following the pattern of the last assembly elections.

Speaking in the event, Director General of State Police Amitabh Ranjan said that since March 1, 2024, a total of 2,500 flag marches have been organized across the state. Illegal goods worth around Rs 9 crore have been seized in the last 1 month.

Meanwhile, the Chief Electoral Officer Puneet Agarwal addressed the event and said that the state had 83 percent voter turnout in the last Lok Sabha elections. This time the main goal is to increase the voter turnout.
