In Manipur, on the evening session of Wednesday ’s assembly session of the 12th Manipur State Legislative Assembly, the House unanimously passed seven Demands for Grants amounting to Rs 6,570 crore.
On the other hand, the Speaker of the House, Satyabrata Singh informed the House that a House Committee was formed, under the Manipur Legislative Assembly Procedure and Conduct of Business Rule to inquire into the influx of illegal immigrants and unnatural growth of new villages in the state of Manipur. The said Committee will consist of 12 members including opposition MLAs, with State Water Resources Minister Awangbou Newmai as the Chairman. The Committee will submit its report within 3 months.
The Demands for Grants passed on Wednesday in the House are Agriculture, Community and Rural Development, Power, Youth Affairs and Sports Development, Planning, State Academy of Training, Minorities and Other Backward Classes and Scheduled Castes Department.
