2 Rohingya people, including woman arrested

Two Rohingya people, including a woman, were arrested from Tripura’s Dharmanagar during their routine checking on Sunday, the police said.

The police stated that, while on patrolling police personnel from Dharmanagar police station at Anandanagar noticed two people, after noticed by the police both of them tried to fled away. But police caught. Preliminary probe revealed that both of them were Rohingya people and were staying in a camp in Bangladesh. They crossed the borders illegally and entered Indian soil. The two Rohingyas were identified as Jafar Alam and Razia Begum.

We launched a hunt to track down the ‘Agents’ who are facilitating the infiltration of the people from Bangladesh. The agents locally known as ‘Linemen’ are active in specific border areas marked for the intrusion from across the border. The places are fenced and guarded, but the ‘Linemen’ have the access and the ability to transfer the people through safe corridors in lieu of money. Most of the infiltration bids occurred during the night and the Agents arranged ladders on both sides of the fencing to smuggle men and women who pay for the service, said the police.
