2023 assembly poll in Tripura – opportunity for people to show exit door to BJP: Brinda Karat

The senior CPI(M) member and former MP of the Rajya Sabha Brinda Karat, Thursday claimed that the Left-Congress force will show the exit door to the BJP in the ensuing 2023 assembly election in Tripura.

Addressing a party campaign at Amarpur in the Gomati district, Brinda Karat lambasted the BJP party and alleged, “The BJP is trying to divide the country in the name of religion. We have never seen such politics that the BJP has adopted.”

“The BJP-RSS are now constructing temples and erecting statues in the name of Nathuram Godse, who killed Mahatma Gandhi,” she alleged.

She continued attacking the BJP and alleged, “The BJP carried out attacks on minorities to weaken the unity between the Hindus and Muslims in the country, who perhaps had fought together for freedom of this country.”

On the other hand, the CPI(M) leader in West Bengal Mohammed Salim on Thursday addressed a party rally at Rajnagar accused the BJP of adopting a political ideology of ‘hatred’. He said, “The BJP had discovered attacks on minorities, women and journalists across the state, while the democracy is in stake under the rule of BJP.”

“The Left-Congress force is contesting this ensuing election together in an aim to restore democracy and rescue the minorities, women and journalists from the hands of BJP,” he said.

He however warned the BJP of staying away from looting votes and said, “Jo baksa badalne ayega, uska naksha badal diya jayega” – ‘Their paths will be changed who come to change boxes’.

“The election commission, election observers, state and central forces should ensure free and fair election, because we are fighting to restore the law and order situation in Tripura,” he said, adding that the people of this state wants to see a new Tripura.
