India got off to a poor start in the tournament with a 1-Nil loss to the United States, but they bounced back well to beat New Zealand 3-1 in their second game to ensure that they are well in the hunt for a semifinal spot, from where the top three teams will make it to the Paris Olympics later this year. The top two teams from each pool will qualify for the semifinals.
