2 Rohingya people, including 1 woman arrested


Two Rohingya people, including a woman, were arrested from Agartala railway station on Friday.

The officer in-charge of GRP station Tapas Das informed that they have detained two Rohingya people, including a woman from Agartala railway station while they were trying to board a train. Preliminary probe revealed that both of them were Rohingya people and were staying in a camp in Bangladesh. They crossed the borders illegally and entered Indian soil. The two Rohingyas were identified as Azida Begum and Ramzan Ali. We have recovered Indian Currency and seized their mobiles. We have already started an investigation. On further interrogation, the arrested Rohingya people informed them that they were supposed to travel to Kolkata by train, said the police officer.

They will be produced before the court on Saturday seeking remand, the police officer added.
