Minister Sudhangshu Das attends 25th Fish Farmers’ Day Celebration

Minister of Scheduled Caste Welfare, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development (ARDD) Sudhangshu Das on Thursday participated in the 25th Fish Farmers’ Day celebration held at the College of Fisheries, Lembucherra. The event was organized in collaboration with the Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal.
The celebration aimed to recognize and honor the vital contributions of fish farmers towards building India’s Blue Economy and promoting sustainable aquaculture practices. Speaking at the event, Minister Das highlighted the government's continuous efforts in strengthening the fisheries sector and empowering rural communities through self-reliant farming practices.
As part of the program, the Minister felicitated progressive fish farmers from all eight Northeastern states for their exemplary work in adopting modern fish farming techniques and contributing to local economies. Their success stories reflect the growing impact of aquaculture as a viable livelihood option in the region.
In a symbolic gesture to support and encourage fish farmers, the Minister also distributed fingerlings and fish feed to local beneficiaries. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to supporting sustainable fishery practices, enhancing productivity, and improving the livelihoods of rural fish farming communities.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from farmers, researchers, academicians, and officials, reaffirming the shared goal of promoting a resilient and eco-friendly aquaculture ecosystem in the region.
