Jwalamukhi battalion carried out illicit poppy destruction
Dec 31, 2022On Reciept of request from Police a large scale joint Operation for Illicit Poppy destruction was carried out by Jwalamukhi Batallion of Jwalamukhi Sector of Assam Rifles and Officials of Police, Forest Department, NAB & Manipur Commandos in the upper reaches of Selai Village, Kangpokpi District.
The menace of Illicit Poppy has been a major factor contributing to the Drug Abuse within the region affecting the Youth of all ages and affecting the rich cultural heritage of Manipur.
The massive illicit Poppy destruction included 25 Acres area of poppy cultivation with approximate cost of Rs 1.4 Crore. It was a much needed relief from the widespread growth of Poppy, denuding the citizens from a peaceful co-existance with Nature.
The locals thanked the Jwalamukhi Batallion to safeguard the interests of the common citizen and living to its Motto of Friends of the North East People.
