BJP in Tripura to observe 'Vibhajan Vibhishika Diwas' to commemorate people’s struggle during partition

To commemorate the struggle and pain during India’s partition, the ruling BJP on Friday announced to observe 'Vibhajan Vibhishika Diwas' across the state on August 11 ahead of the Independence Day of the country.

Addressing a press conference on Friday here at Agartala party office, the party spokes person Nabendu Bhattacharjee said that the observance of 'Vibhajan Vibhishika Diwas' (Partition Horrors Remembrance Day) is to recall pain of the country’s partition.

He called upon the new generation of India to keep the pain and horror of partition in mind in order to strengthen the feeling of unity and social harmony.

“There was some misinterpretation, when the history was presented before us earlier. We gained independence after 1000 years and it is not just during 200 years that we were in captivity,” he said, adding that there is a need to apprise the young generation with the actual history of India’s independence and the pain during India’s partition.

A committee has been formed in Tripura under the leadership of party’s vice-president Dr. Ashok Sinha for the observance of 'Vibhajan Vibhishika Diwas' across the state, he told reporters.

This program will be conducted across 10 organizational districts from August 12 to August 14, where eminent speakers will deliver lectures on the tragic days of partition, and a picture exhibition will be arranged along with a silent march.
