Train carrying fuel wagon to reach Dharmanagar depot tonight

In a big sigh of relief from the acute crisis of fuel in the state of Tripura, a train carrying fuel wagons is on its way to the state and will reach the Dharmanagar fuel depot on Saturday night.

Sharing the movement of train in his social media handle, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday said that after April 26, the train with first rake of Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) crossed the landslide-hit area between Jatinga-Haranga in Assam and will reach Tripura tonight.

Tripura was facing the shortage with capital city Agartala being the worst affected with most petrol pumps going dry. The fuel crisis started after the train movements between the Jatinga-Lumpur and New Harangajao stations were restricted due to the landslide.

CM Dr Saha thanked the Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnav for taking initiative to resolve this issue expeditiously.

According to the source of a railway official, freight trains consisting of 49 wagons crossed the Jatinga Lumpur-New Harangajao section of Assam’s Dima Hasao district on Saturday morning.
