Regional review meeting commences on GFATM Project states


A three days long regional review meeting of GFATM (Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria) Project states begins here at Agartala from March 14 review the state wise performance and activities including District wise implementation of all the North Eastern States and the various achievements made so far.

The state unit of National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme has organised the review meeting.

Addressing a press conference here at Agartala Pragna Bhavan on Friday, the Joint Secretary of NVBDCP of the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Rajib Manjhi highlighted the various strategies towards Malaria Elimination.

A high level meeting was conducted on March 13 last at the New Civil Secretariat, where performances of various programs under NHM Tripura were reviewed thoroughly. In the meeting, discussion was held towards achievement of the goal of Malaria Elimination by 2027.

The Joint Mission Director of National Health Mission, Tripura Unit Binoy Bhushan Das on Friday said that the government has taken a series of strategic plans to eliminate malaria menace across the state on priority basis. He said that the Dhalai district of the state had been identified as malaria prone district and accordingly plans are being taken to prevent malaria spread in the tribal dominated villages and other parts of the district.
