Addressing the event here at Agartala Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan on Friday, the Chief Minister said that the council of ministers in the state cabinet on Thursday last decided to start the scheme and agreed to include at least 30,000 beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Social Allowance Scheme, who are to get a monthly allowance of Rs. 2000 from next month. Briefing the cabinet decision on his speech on Friday, CM Dr. Saha said that over 6000 special executives would be appointed in the state to assist the police force in addition to the SPOs in a move to boost the security arrangements of the North-eastern state.

The Special Executives would be like Special Police Officers (SPOs) who were recruited during the Left Front rule to assist the state police when insurgency was at its peak in the late 90s, he said. Dr. Saha said, in addition to this 3,108 Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualified candidates would be recruited in the education department to address the shortage of teachers in several government-run schools.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister had urged upon the state health department to work on generating more awareness about the causes and cancer. He said, about 30 percent of cancer patients are affected by oral cavity cancer. “The health workers including doctors need to work in a mission mode to make the cancer and non-communicable diseases detection and public awareness campaign 100 percent successful,” he said. Chief Secretary J K Sinha, Mission Director of National Health Mission, Subhashish Das, and others were present in the event. The ‘MUCABELA’ campaign will be kicked off from October 15, 2022 to February 14, 2023 across the state.
