Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar Shoot in Ludhiana Sparks Controversy over Pakistan Flag

A behind-the-scenes video from the sets of Ranveer Singh’s upcoming spy thriller Dhurandhar has gone viral, sparking heated discussions online all due to the unexpected appearance of a Pakistani flag during filming in Ludhiana.

The clip, reportedly shot in the village of Khera, shows Ranveer Singh in a rugged look with long hair, a thick beard, and surma-lined eyes dressed in black as he prepares for a scene. While the crowd cheered for the actor, what caught the internet’s attention was the Pakistan flag visible in the background, fluttering atop a building.

Social media users quickly began speculating about the context. “Why is there a Pakistani flag here?” questioned one user, while another wrote, “Oooooh Bhai, anti-Pakistan movie incoming.”

Some users condemned the use of the flag on Indian soil, calling it “disrespectful” and “shameful.” Others, however, came to the filmmakers’ defense, explaining that the flag was being used to portray a Pakistani location for the storyline. “Obviously they’re not going to shoot in Pakistan. It’s a set to depict a scene from across the border. This is a common practice in filmmaking,” one comment read.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, best known for his 2019 film Uri: The Surgical Strike, Dhurandhar is said to be a high-octane spy action film backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. Alongside Ranveer Singh, the film features a powerful ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, and Sara Arjun. It is slated for release in theatres on December 5, 2025.
