Tripura Govt demands addition coaches for local trains connecting Agartala with Dharmanagar, Sabroom

Aiming to meet the increasing rate of commuters, the state transport minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday written to the Union Railway Minister Ashiwini Vishnaw and demanded for additional coaches for the 5 DEMU trains, presently running between Agartala-Dharmanagar and Agartala-Sabroom.

In his letter to the union minister, Sushanta Chowdhury stated, “These DEMU trains, with limited number of coaches, are not sufficient to cater the increasing number of passengers and clear the extra rush that causes great hardship to the daily commuters.”

“There is a tremendous demand from every nook and corner of the state for increasing the number of coaches in all the DEMU passenger trains running from Agartala to Sabroom and Agartala to Dharmanagar in order to remove the inconvenience faced by the passengers,” the letter stated further.

The minister said that the matter has come up during the last assembly session also and many organisations have taken out agitational programmes demanding for increasing the number of coaches in DEMU passenger trains.

Presently, 3 DEMU passenger trains are running from Agartala to Sabroom and vice-versa with 8 coaches and 2 numbers of DEMU passenger trains are running from Agartala to Dharmanagar and vice- versa with 9 coaches.
