EAM Jaishankar meets Chinese President Xi Jinping

India's External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Tuesday during a gathering of foreign ministers from Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states. The high-level interaction marked a significant diplomatic engagement amid ongoing complexities in India-China relations.

During the meeting, Dr. Jaishankar briefed President Xi on recent developments in the bilateral relationship between India and China. He also conveyed warm greetings from President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Taking to social media following the meeting, Dr. Jaishankar highlighted the importance of sustained dialogue and regional cooperation through platforms such as the SCO. The visit reflects India's continued commitment to engaging with its neighbors through multilateral forums, even as strategic and security concerns remain.

The meeting comes at a time when both nations are working to navigate a delicate phase in their relationship, particularly in the aftermath of border tensions in recent years. Diplomatic engagements like these are seen as crucial for confidence-building and restoring normalcy in ties between the two Asian powers.

President Xi's interactions with SCO members focused on enhancing regional cooperation, economic development, and addressing shared security challenges.
