SDPO, securities injured; BJP mandal office vandalised on TIPRA Motha’s attack


At a time when the counting for the elections on 60-assembly constituencies were underway across the state amid tight security, the SDPO of Teliamura sub-division along with his security guards were left injured, while the ruling BJP party’s mandal office was vandalised after the supporters of TIPRA Motha party allegedly discovered attack.

The incident took place on Thursday noon at Teliamura sub-divisional office at Chakmaghat, after a group of TIPRA Motha supporters allegedly gathered at Chakmaghat Fishery Officer Ground to attack a vehicle bearing the flag of BJP party along the national highway.

The Motha supporters also allegedly vandalised the BJP’s mandal office and looted shops nearby. Alarmed by the incident and soon after the SDPO Prasun Kanti Tripura accompanied by his police force reached the spot, he was hit with lathi allegedly by the Motha supporters, where he sustained injury on his head. His security personnels were also attacked in the incident.

While he along with his security guards were rushed to the hospital, he was alarmed by separate incidents of attack at Tuimadhu and Chakmaghat area. Following this the SDPO with a bandage on his head rushed to the incident spots and rescued about 10 persons from the attack. They were later brought to the hospital.

Though the situation was brought under control, elaborate security arrangements were made into the area to restrict further untoward incidents.
