Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday attended the National Doctors' Day 2025 celebration held at Pragna Bhawan, organized by the Department of Health and Family Welfare. The event was held under the theme “Behind the Mask, Caring the Caregiver,” paying tribute to the tireless service and dedication of doctors across the state and nation.
National Doctors' Day is observed every year on July 1 to commemorate the birth and death anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a legendary physician and statesman who served as the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Dr. Roy’s contributions to the fields of medicine and public service, including his roles as the Mayor of Kolkata and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calcutta, have left a lasting impact on India’s healthcare and governance.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Saha extended his best wishes to doctors and healthcare workers, acknowledging their pivotal role in society, particularly during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As we honor Dr. B.C. Roy’s legacy today, we must also recognize the countless doctors who, every day, work silently and selflessly to ensure the well-being of our people,” Dr. Saha said.
During the event, the Chief Minister also unveiled the latest edition of ‘Swasthya Sambad’, the official publication of the Health Department, and felicitated 15 senior doctors for their distinguished contributions to the medical profession in Tripura.
The celebration brought together health officials, medical professionals, and dignitaries who applauded the commitment of doctors and emphasized the need for continued support and investment in the healthcare sector.
