PM Modi inaugurates and lays foundation for ₹7,200 Cr development projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Motihari on Friday, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹7,200 crore, spanning across key sectors including railways, road infrastructure, rural development, fisheries, electronics, and information technology.

Addressing a large public gathering, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of Bihar's development for the growth of Eastern India. He lauded the pace of development in the state, attributing it to the combined efforts of the central and state governments.

Among the key highlights was the dedication of several railway projects aimed at enhancing connectivity in the region. These include the introduction of automatic signalling between the Samastipur–Bachhwara rail line and the doubling of the Darbhanga–Thalwara and Samastipur–Rambhadrapur lines.

The Prime Minister also flagged off four new Amrit Bharat trains, linking major cities: Rajendra Nagar Terminal (Patna) to New Delhi, Bapudham Motihari to Delhi, Darbhanga to Lucknow and Malda Town to Lucknow. These initiatives are expected to significantly improve rail connectivity and boost regional development.

PM Modi released over ₹400 crore to more than 61,000 Self-Help Groups in Bihar under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission, aimed at empowering women and strengthening rural economies.

As part of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana–Gramin, ₹160 crore was disbursed to 40,000 beneficiaries. In a symbolic gesture, the Prime Minister handed over keys to several recipients during the event, marking the Griha Pravesh (housewarming) of over 12,000 families.

Highlighting the government's housing achievements, Modi said more than 4 crore houses have been built across the country under PM Awaas Yojana in the last 11 years, including over 60 lakh homes in Bihar alone.

The Prime Minister announced that the central government will invest ₹1 lakh crore to generate job opportunities and promote entrepreneurship among the youth. He noted that substantial efforts are being made to create employment within Bihar, enabling young people to find work without migrating.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to farmers, Modi said over ₹3.5 lakh crore has been distributed under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, directly benefiting millions of farmers across the country.
