Singer Sonu Nigam to perform concert at Agartala on Dec 23 to support anti-drug campaign


Renowned singer Sonu Nigam to perform live concert here at Agartala Swami Vivekananda Ground on December 23 next as part of supporting the anti-drug campaign of the State Sports and Youth Affairs department.

Addressing a press conference here at the civil secretariat on Monday, minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the concert will start from 6 pm on December 23 next. “This will be the final programme of the month-long Khelo Tripura, Shudras Tripura by the sports and youth affairs department. The campaign aims to encourage the youths of the state towards sports and generate awareness on drug addictions.”

“We have also decided to distribute sports items among 1500 different clubs here at Agartala and other parts from December 23 next. The distribution programme will continue for 15 days as part of the campaign,” the minister told reporters.

He said, “In addition to the cultural event on December 23 next, we also decided to organise the state’s first drone show to attract the youths towards technology. At a time 250 numbers of drones will be used in the show.”

The minister also informed that a mass rally will be organised here at Agartala on December 23 next, which will start from Umakanta School Ground. The rally is a part of the anti-drug campaign. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha accompanied by other ministers and officials will join the rally which will end at Agartala Swami Vivekananda Ground.
