Assam Rifles seize drugs worth Rs 11.53 Crore; five arrested

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Assam Rifles, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, seized narcotics and contraband worth Rs 11.53 crore in Mizoram and arrested five individuals, including two women.
According to a Defence spokesperson, the operation was initiated based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of narcotics from Vaseikai to Lunglei. An Area Domination Party (ADP) was launched in Lunglei district, where a suspicious vehicle was intercepted. Upon inspection, security forces recovered drugs with an estimated street value of Rs 10.43 crore.
In two separate operations conducted in Champhai district, troops of the Assam Rifles seized foreign-origin cigarettes worth Rs 81 lakh. In another incident, three individuals were arrested with heroin valued at Rs 29 lakh.
The arrested individuals are currently in custody, and further investigations are underway.
The Assam Rifles reiterated its commitment to curbing drug trafficking in the region and ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
