CM Dr. Mnaik Saha directs Disaster Management Authority to remain vigilant

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has directed the state’s Disaster Management Authority to remain vigilant as heavy rains have caused rivers to swell, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a red alert.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Chief Minister Dr. Saha said that preparations are underway to handle the situation. I have already discussed with the Disaster Management Authority and we will hold a meeting tomorrow. I have instructed them to maintain strict vigilance, and they are working accordingly, he added.

According to the IMD report, areas like Sonamura, Bishramganj, and Mohanbhog in Sepahijala district have recorded the highest rainfall at around 21 cm. In West Tripura district, Agartala recorded 13.6 cm of rainfall. The heavy rains have caused water from the Haora river to enter nearby villages around Agartala city.
