Tripura police detains 8 Bangladeshi migrants from Agartala Railway Station

In yet another major crackdown on illegal infiltration, the GRP and Railway Protection Force (RPF) jointly conducted an operation in Agartala Railway Station on Saturday morning and apprehended at least 8 Bangladeshi illegal migrants.

Inspector of GRP station in Agartala Tapas Das informed that the 8 Bangladeshi nationals, seven of whom are women, were apprehended soon after they entered the rail station on Saturday morning to travel abroad through Kanchanjunga express train.

Upon interrogation, eight individuals said they are from Bangladesh, while one confessed to being an Indian who facilitated their train journey post-border crossing. Preliminary probe reveals that their intention was to seek employment as daily labourers in Mumbai and Pune, he told reporters.

A case has been filed against the detainees under the Foreigner's Act, IPC, and Indian Passport Act, with ongoing investigations to ascertain their entry point and accomplices.
