Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announces all government educational institutes to be closed on 22nd January


Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that all government educational institutes will be closed tomorrow in the State on the occasion of Ram Temple's consecration ceremony. He also appealed to private educational institutes not to open tomorrow. Talking to newspersons in Guwahati today, he said that all meat-fish shops are to be closed tomorrow up to 4 PM, and hotels - restaurants are not to serve non-veg till 2 PM. Mr. Sarma appealed to people to light earthen lamps or light tomorrow evening at every household and also to offer prayers at religious places. The Chief Minister said that instruction has been issued to the District Collectors to keep an eye on the sensitive areas. He appealed to all people to celebrate the event peacefully tomorrow. On the other hand, the Chief Minister requested Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to avoid his yatra tomorrow in those areas dominated by a particular community and also not to visit Batadrawa Sattra during the Ram Temple consecration. Mr. Sarma feared that visiting some sensitive areas tomorrow by Mr. Gandhi may create a law and order problem.
