Centre approves widening of Khowai-Harina road in Tripura


Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving the proposal for widening & improving the 135 km stretch of Khowai-Harina road in Tripura.

The decision of approving the project work came up in the Central cabinet decisions on Wednesday.

The project involves investment of Rs.2,486.78 crore which includes a loan component of Rs.1,511.70 crore. The loan assistance will be from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under ODA scheme.

The project will however ensure better road connectivity between various parts of Tripura and aims to provide alternative access to Assam and Meghalaya.

CM Dr Manik Saha shared the information in his social media handle and stated, “This reflects the Hon'ble PM's unwavering commitment to strengthening road infrastructure in NE. The project will definitely boost connectivity development in Tripura.”
