TIPRA Motha yet to finalize seat sharing tactics with CPI(M): Jiten

Day after collapsing the seat sharing tactics with the opposition Congress party, the CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Choudhury on Tuesday said that talks are being held with TIPRA Motha over seat sharing for the ensuing assembly election.

Addressing a party gathering here on Tuesday, Choudhury said, “TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Manikya Deb Barma telephoned him and agreed to go for a dialogue with us regarding seat sharing. He also showed interest in supporting our candidates for the upcoming election.”

“Pradyot said that his party has not named any contestant from Sabroom, as I am contesting from the constituency and he assured me that he won’t field any candidate from this constituency,” he said, adding that Pradyot has assured that he will undertake an assessment of winnability of the candidates to take on BJP.

He said, “Although the matter of seat sharing with Motha is not yet finalized, Pradyot said that he will let me know by today evening.”

However, Pradyot could not be contacted over phone for his comments on seat sharing tactics with the CPI(M) party despite several attempts.
