TSECL to install 120 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine plant at Rokhia


The Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) will soon install a 120 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant at Rokhia to ensure eco-friendly power.

Addressing a press conference here at the Bidyut Bhawan on Monday, the Managing Director of the TSECL Debashish Sarkar said that the project will not only be more techno-economically viable but also it will generate eco-friendly power. It will reduce the generation cost and thus, it will help in reducing the tariff of the consumers, he told reporters.

He said that the TSECL is committed to render uninterrupted power supply to the consumers. The distribution wing is doing preventive maintenance of HT/LT lines and substations besides cutting, clearing and disposal of Jungles nearby the HT/LT lines and sub-stations under different sub-divisions, he said.

According to the press communique of the TSECL, the corporation is going to reduce the AT & C loss up to 19% by FY 2023-24 through RDSS scheme. Under this scheme, TSECL will replace LT bare lines by AB cables, HVDS line will be constructed, long feeders will be bifurcated for improvement of voltage losses, etc.

Presently, the TSECL has the total energy bill outstanding amount of Rs. 2566.82 crores. The MD said that in view to realizing this outstanding amount TSECL has enhanced spot collection facility to a great extent, door to door persuasion to the consumers, initiated digital facilities like UPI, Bidyutbandhu App and web portal.

He also informed that to increase the billing percentage with accuracy and quality through capturing of photographs of energy meter readings, TSECL has engaged new energy billing agencies across the State of Tripura.
