Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma asserts government's tripartite peace treaty with ULFA ensured rights of indigenous people of state


Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asserted that the government's tripartite peace treaty with the ULFA ensured the rights of the indigenous people of the state. Mr. Sarma thanked the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister along with the ULFA leadership for the treaty. Interacting with the media persons in Guwahati, Chief Minister said that this accord ensured the land and political rights of the Assamese people. Mr. Sarma said that 90 percent militancy problem has been solved in the state. The Chief Minister said that except ULFA Independence leader Paresh Baruah all the outfits have returned to the mainstream. Mr. Sarma said that peace treaty with 11 outfits have been signed since 2021 by the governments and nearly four thousand cadres laid down arms.
