Govt working to expand health services in rural Tripura: CM Dr. Manik Saha


Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday inaugurated block Public Health Unit at Kalyanpur Community Health Center and said that the government is working diligently to expand health services in the rural pockets of the state.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated an operation theater at Teliamura sub-divisional hospital on his visit to Khowai district on Thursday.

“Initiatives have been taken to build block Public Health Units in 18 more blocks of the state,” he said, adding that the government is working on various plans to provide easy access to medical services to the people of rural areas.

He said that the main objective of setting up block public health units is to provide medical facilities to the people of marginal towns. If medical services are strengthened in rural areas, the pressure of patients in district hospitals and GBP hospital will be largely reduced, he said.

The state tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, MLA Kalyani Roy, MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury, Assistant Chairman of Khowai Zilla Parishad Harishankar Pal and Health Director Dr. Supriya Mallik among others were present in the event.
