CM Dr Manik Saha inaugurates 11-day long state-level drama fest


Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday inaugurated the 11 days long state level drama festival here at Agartala Rabindra Bhavan and said that Drama, which plays a significant role in showing the right direction to a society, is the mirror of life.

Addressing a gathering of drama artists here in the inaugural function, the Chief Minister said that Drama is one of the strongest platforms in generating mass awareness about various issues.

“Department of Information and Culture Affairs is making efforts in various ways to make the theatre industry more prosperous in the state,” he said, adding that the 11 days long state level drama festival is expected to explore potentiality of the youths in this sector.

Meanwhile the Vice Chairman of the State Cultural Advisory Committee Subrata Chakraborty addressed the gathering to state that drama is an art where every aspect of culture has an opportunity to apply. He said, “It is the responsibility of each of us to connect the next generation with the practice of theatre.”

Director of Information and Culture Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya said that a total of 21 plays will be staged during the 11-day festival. More than three hundred artists are participating in this festival, he added.
