Indian Army continues efforts to evacuate stranded tourists due to landslides in Sikkim


Troops of the Indian Army's Trishakti Corps continued efforts to evacuate stranded tourists due to landslides in Chungthang, Mangan district in Sikkim, informed a defence spokesperson on Sunday. Around 300 tourists stranded in Lachung and Lachen were assisted to cross over a temporary bridge for further movement towards Gangtok. The tourists were provided food, a resting place and medical comfort by the Army troops. A person, who fell unconscious, was evacuated by an ambulance to the nearest Army Field Hospital and is stable now.
