Better doctor-public relation for better health service: CM Dr. Manik Saha

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday urged the doctors of the state to earn people’s trust for improved health services among the general public.

The Chief Minister inaugurated a 1050 LPS capacity PSU oxygen plant here at Agartala IGM Hospital in wake of the surging cases of the COVID. Dr. Saha, himself a dental surgeon, also inaugurated a beautification project for the lake in the hospital complex.

Terming the IGM hospital as one of the historical hospitals in Tripura, the chief minister flayed the previous Left front government and found several loopholes in the construction of the hospital. He said that there was a lack of proper planning during the construction of the IGM Hospital building. There was no ramp in the hospital, as a result, orthopaedic patients had to face various problems.

Dr. Saha directed that the state health department should focus on proper utilization of the new IGM building for better health care services.

The Chief Minister said that due to the positive efforts of the present government, better health services are now available in the state. There are currently 22 oxygen plants in the state. The state government is making sincere efforts to provide quality health services in various hospitals including primary health centers, sub-health centers of the state, he claimed.

“Doctors also need to be more sincere in providing services without keeping themselves bound by time constraints. Patient-physician relationship should be developed. Nursing students should also be given proper training in this subject from the beginning,” he said.

The PSU oxygen plant with 1050 LPL capacity installed at IGM hospital is the largest oxygen plant in the Northeast region. Rs. 2.61 lakhs have been spent for the installation of the oxygen plant through the United Nation Development Programme.
