CM blames Left of growing 'Ganja industry' at large scale

Ganja, the only industry which grew under the Left regime has arguably became the principal agricultural crop during their tenure in Tripura, said Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday.

Dr. Saha was addressing a foundation stone laying ceremony here at Agartala Durjoynagar on Friday. He talked tough on the then Left front government and said that cultivation of ganja took its height under the Left regime, which perhaps destroyed the youths of this state.

“It is after 2018, when the first BJP government was formed, seizures and destruction of ganja started in true sense. The way these contraband items are transported with sophisticated packaging and organised networking, it looks like this is the only industry that grew on a large scale under political patronage of the communist party,” he said.

He said, “The previous Left front government gradually destroyed the prospects of the state’s industrial growth and it grew Ganja, the only industry which boomed during their regime.”

“We are trying our heart and soul to bring a change. We want to make Tripura a prosperous state of new and developed India. New colleges are being opened, super specialty services have been introduced in state hospitals, and social pensions have been increased. A lot of things have already been achieved in the connectivity sector.”
