150 years of Tripura Police observed


Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday said that the state of Tripura has been recognised as the third lowest crime rate state in the country.

Dr Saha was addressing the programme of observance of 150 years of Tripura Police here at Agartala Pragna Bhavan.

CM Dr Saha, who also holds the home portfolio praised the role of the Tripura police over maintaining the law and order situation in the state and said that crimes like robbery, murder, crimes against women, domestic violence have been reduced in the state. Zero tolerance policy has been adopted to stop drug trafficking and its use in the state. Various public awareness programs have also been taken by the police about the ill effects of drug use, Dr Saha said.

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Tripura Police, the Chief Minister officially launched several public awareness campaigns of the State Police. This campaign program includes mobile exhibition in 3 buses, 8 gypsy vehicles for public awareness campaign in 8 districts of the state, 150 bikes for public awareness on traffic, drugs, women safety and others.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated a blood donation camp and photo exhibition organized by the Tripura Police. He also unveiled the 150th anniversary medals and badges of Tripura Police.

Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan along with senior officers of State Police were present on the occasion.
