Jiten assures of oppositions’ support to BJP’s developmental works


The veteran and opposition CPI(M) leader Jitendra Choudhury, Thursday took oath of his office and secrecy as MLA and said that the oppositions are ready to cooperate with the developmental works of the ruling BJP party.

“Any anti-people policies or activities by the BJP which goes against the constitution will obviously be opposed in the assembly and outside the assembly,” he said,

Speaking with the reporters after taking oath as an MLA on Thursday Choudhury said, “We are ready to support and cooperate with the BJP with their developmental works.”

Meanwhile, on being asked about the issues to be raised during the budget session commencing from March 24, Choudhury replied, “We want BJP to present budget in writing based on their promises made to the people of Tripura before this election and implement the works accordingly with sincerity.”

“Obviously the oppositions will have our separate demand, but primarily we want the BJP to fulfill their pre-poll promises made to the people of this state,” he told reporters.

As many as 44 newly elected MLAs of Tripura were administered oath of office and secrecy by Pro-tem speaker Binay Bhusan Das at the state assembly building on Thursday.

Among the newly sworn-in MLAs, 31 are from BJP while two are from Congress barring Sudip Roy Barman and the remaining 11 are from the Opposition CPI-M. The remaining MLAs will take the oath of office tomorrow at the House.
