Agartala, Oct 3: The body of a man identified as Rupak Pal was recovered from the Dashamighat pond in the Ghoshpara area of Lichubagan, causing a stir in the locality.

Initial reports suggest that he drowned while bathing in the pond in an intoxicated state. According to local sources, Rupak Pal was a resident of the area. Locals who saw his body in the pond informed the police, who reached the spot and recovered it from the water.

Speaking about the incident, the deceased's brother said that Rupak worked regularly and lived with the family. He also said Rupak used intoxicants. At times he came home, and at times he stayed outside the house. Rupak never married and lived with his brothers.

However, the family could not say anything definite about how he fell into the water. Their initial belief is that he often went to bathe in that pond. According to family members, Rupak may have drowned accidentally while bathing in an intoxicated state.

Meanwhile, police arranged to send the body for post-mortem examination. An investigation has been started after registering an unnatural death case.

However, the actual cause of Rupak Pal's death will become clear only after the investigation is complete. Until then, the family's account remains an initial assumption based on his habit of bathing in that pond.
